Cheese And Scallions Polenta

This is a very easy to make, traditional Romanian dish that T1 and T2 love. Actually, traditionally it is made only with sourcream and cheese, but I thought I should make a twist and add our beloved greens and that was so much better. Cheese and scallions polenta was gone so fast! You have to try this. It’s fast to make, easy, and tasty too.

I went for goat cheese this time, since it was the only available in my refrigerator and honestly, we prefer goat dairy when in season especially (during spring and summer), but you can try any cheese you like (cheddar, mozzarella would work great too). The idea of adding roasted sesame seeds was T1’s and it was a really great idea.


Goat Cheese and Scallions Polenta

Very simple, easy to make, soft polenta topped with soft goat cheese and scallions

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup fine cornmeal or regular
  • 1/4 tsp seasalt not if for babies
  • 1 tbsp sourcream
  • 1 tbsp goat cheese grated
  • 1 tbsp parsley chopped thin
  • 2-3 tbsp scallions chopped
  • 1 tsp roasted sesame seeds optional


  1. Pour water into a pot and add the polenta and salt, stirring continuously while cooking on medium heat

  2. When thickened like a pudding, after about 10 minutes, pour the polenta onto a plate

  3. Top it with sourcream and grated cheese, greens and sesame seeds

  4. Serve warm

Recipe Notes

You can pour the polenta in sillicone molds, let it cool, but not completely, and turn upside down on a plate and then top with the rest of the ingredients.
